Apparently, April is the month of Podcasts! Who would have known? I made a list of my 5 favorite podcasts that I listen to on Spotify:
If you enjoy anything paranormal or true crime, this podcast is perfect. Hosted by two best friends who met in graduate school, Em covers the paranormal side of the show while Christine covers the true crime portion. Although, baby Gio (Christine’s dog) and Eva (their assistant) need honorable mentions because they’re just as important as Em and Christine! My favorite part of this podcast is their reactions to each others stories, pure intrigue met with horror and outrage.I binged the entire podcast and its well worth it. They do live shows around the country and once a month they do a listener’s episode where they share stories submitted by their listeners.
2.What The Fuck with Marc Maron
If you’re a fan of Marc Maron’s comedy, you’ll enjoy this podcast. The first 10-15 minutes of this podcast are where the ads/plugs usually are, so I find myself scrubbing through that part. But once you get to the good stuff, it’s so worth it. Each week he interviews a celebrity in his garage. He even interviewed former President, Barack Obama, in his garage! Maron is a great interviewer who gets below the surface and digs deep to really get to know his guests.
I don’t know about you, but Dax Shepherd and Kristen Bell are my favorite couple in Hollywood, because they are fun and real. He’s interviewed tons of interesting people ranging from Dr. Phil McGraw, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O’Brien and several others. One thing I love about this podcast is that it shows a deeper side of Dax Shepard. If you enjoy a long form interview with depth, this podcast is worth checking out.
Another long form interview podcast, hosted by comedian Pete Holmes. I personally love Pete’s stand up and his show, Crashing which was sadly cancelled on HBO. Some of his best interviews are ones with John Mulaney, Bo Burnham, Bill Nye, Dax Shepard and others.
I recently discovered this podcast and its wonderfully hilarious. Potterless is a podcast centered around a 25 year old who is reading the Harry Potter series for the first time in his life. Like the host, I too am reading the Harry Potter books for the first time ever. I’ve seen the movies but reading the books is a whole new experience. His commentary is so entertaining because its informative but he’s not afraid to poke fun at some of the weirdness that is Hogwarts.
All of these podcasts listed above can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. Do you listen to podcasts? If so, let me know which ones! I am always on the hunt for interesting podcasts. I am dying to start a podcast, but I don’t want to do it solo, so if you live in the NYC area and are interested in starting a book/life related podcast, let me know in the comments below!
I live in New York, representing the East coast portion of Words Between Coasts.
